XL Group announced the addition of Jay E. Smelser to its North America property insurance team as South Central regional leader, based in Dallas.
Smelser reports to Senior Vice President and Head of North America General Property Wade Pitman in Los Angeles.
Smelser joins XL Group from Zurich Insurance Co. where he most recently served as vice president and area property manager. His extensive 20-plus year career also includes experience as a reinsurance underwriter, account executive specialty property broker, and a personal lines insurance agent.
North America Property business meets the global and domestic property insurance needs for a wide variety of commercial businesses and industries. Coverages include equipment breakdown, general property and property for energy companies, delivered by a dedicated team of underwriters, risk engineers and property claims managers who specialize in addressing large, complex property risks.
