I wonder how many crashes were the result of texting while driving. I notice it every day coming to work. We should have a ban in place and drivers ticketed heavily.

Agent – Depending on the study, it’s as bad or worse than drunk driving. Does TX have a ban on cell phone operation while driving law on the books? If not, it’s hard for me to understand why they wouldn’t when so many other states do. It’s very dangerous and drivers should be penalized similar to a moving violation and be subject to a fine. Do you agree?

Rosenblatt, the bill has been introduced in the last session, but it did not get passed and signed into law. I am all over my Representative, State Senator and the Independent Agents of Texas Rep to get this law passed. I guess all those lawyers in the legislature are cell addicts and haven’t stepped up yet.

This is a very addictive behavior. I went out to eat the other night and noticed every other table had a man and woman and both on their cell constantly during dinner and they hardly said anything to each other.

My comment is that video has nothing at all to do with the topic of this article and we’re talking about here, texting & driving.

Actually Rosenblatt, I wanted to prove a point to you that I can cut and paste if I want to. I really didn’t think you would comment on it, but you sure were upset at the cops for almost strangling the perp who was resisting arrest in that video you provided.

It might interest you to know that Holder declined to prosecute the white cop who shot the thug Brown since he could not find any evidence that would refute the Grand Jury. I know he wanted to, but that pesky evidence just wasn’t there. Now, the protestors can resume rioting and looting because their government let them down.

In San Antonio, a ban on texting while driving went into effect on Jan 1. For January they will only hand out warnings, Feb. 1 the fines will be effective($200). Austin has similar restrictions.

Well, I suppose individual cities can pass ordinances and fines if they want. Good for SA.

This just reminds me how important it is to have auto insurance. You never know what could happen to you on the road and you should be prepared! It’s always better to be safe than sorry. Having auto insurance not only keeps your car insured but keeps you from paying big $$$$$$.

Rodriguez, It is also important to have good limits of liability. Those 30/60/25 limits don’t go far if you hit someone and total their car and put them in the hospital. It is amazing to me that a lot of agents and direct writers are still doing minimum limits.
