Texas Commissioner of Insurance David Mattax has appointed Deborah King to the board of directors of the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (TWIA).
King of Highland Village is vice president and chief actuary at Republic Underwriters Insurance Co. She has 25 years of experience as an actuary, much of it pricing property in areas prone to catastrophe.
Under Senate Bill 900, the board must include three members who live in coastal counties, three members who live at least 100 miles from the coast, and three insurance industry representatives who write and renew windstorm and hail insurance along the Gulf Coast.
King replaces the late Ronald Lawson, who also worked at Republic.
