Houston Builder Lands Safety Award from Construction Safety Group

Houston-based D.E. Harvey Builders has been honored with the first ever General Contractor Job Site Safety Award from the TX Construction Association Safety Group.

The general contractor won the award for its dedication to keeping job sites safe, according to TCA Safety Group, a group purchase program written through Texas Mutual Insurance Co., and offered as a benefit to members of TX Construction Association Inc., has awarded

The safety group asked 2,400 subcontractors to name the general contractor that strives to keep construction sites safe and clean to avoid incidents. D.E. Harvey was presented with the award at the TCA Board of Directors meeting on Oct. 28.

Gina O’Hara, a vice president at Anco Insurance and master agent of the TCA Safety Group, said she wants to see it become a coveted annual award.

Safety groups allow employers in similar industries to purchase their insurance as a group, thereby lowering their premiums. Members also receive customized safety information for their industry and are eligible for group dividends if their group maintains a strong safety record. The TCA Safety Group is the largest organization of its kind for subcontractors in Texas.
