May 9, 2016

Pilgrim’s Pride in Waco, Texas is expanding a 5 million pound recall that federal food safety regulators say includes a variety of chicken products potentially contaminated with foreign materials.

Friday’s announcement is the second expansion of a recall that began in April after the largest poultry producer in the U.S. received consumer complaints regarding plastic contamination of chicken nuggets, according the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The agency said there have been “no confirmed reports of adverse reactions” due to eating the products.

Consumers are still urged to throw away or return the products. Food inspectors have previously announced finding items such as wood, plastic, rubber and metal.
