An earthquake has rattled parts of central Oklahoma.
The U.S. Geological Survey says the 3.8 magnitude earthquake was recorded at 9:59 a.m. Sunday about two miles northeast of Luther, located about 28 miles northeast of Oklahoma City in Oklahoma County.
The USGS says the earthquake was recorded at a depth of about three miles. No damage or injuries was immediately reported.
Two smaller temblors shook parts of northern Oklahoma earlier Sunday. Geologists say a 2.6 magnitude earthquake was recorded shortly before 4 a.m. about 10 miles south-southeast of Medford in Grant County. A 3.2 magnitude earthquake was recorded at 2:23 a.m. about nine miles east of Enid in Garfield County.
Scientists have linked an increase in the number of Oklahoma earthquakes to the underground disposal of wastewater from oil production.
