Another case of old white men making laws about women’s reproductive rights. Do you EVER see any women among these legislators?

You are 100% right. there is no reason for this bill outside of individual’s religious views. THAT IS IT.

Um, no. No old white guy is intruding upon a woman’s reproductive rights with this bill. The bill does not restrict abortion in any shape, form or fashion. But hey, when one wants to feel oppressed said person will always find oppression, even where there is none, as in this case. The bill simply limits filing suit against a doctor simply b/c your child isn’t born fully healthy. A woman can still file suit if it is proven the Doctor purposefully withheld vital information. Perhaps trying NOT to find oppression or some ‘ism around every turn will help you see the world is a lot better place than your preconceived notions allow you to believe.

The term “Wrongful Birth” is enough to turn my stomach. Every life is precious and a gift from God.

Including Hitler, Stain, McVeigh, Lanza and all members of ISIS? Are those gifts from God?

What role did parents or society play on making these individuals who they became? What about Mother Theresa, Martin Luther King Jr., Einstein, Clara Barton, Ralph Waldo Emerson, our military, etc. The point is we do not know who or what that person could contribute to society or become if they are not given that chance. What if the life you take is the one who could cure cancer or make any other substantial contribution?

There you go, forcing your religious beliefs onto the rest of us. As soon as you can prove that there is a god, then you would have a legitimate point. Until then, your just an adult who still believes in fairy tales. We’re all born atheist, until someone starts telling us lies.

this is not true. According to anthropology, there has never been a single culture in the history of the world that has not had a concept of a higher power.

i have no horse in this race, but incorrect assertions should be dismissed whether it comes from a religious person or not.

“Wrongful birth” So now it is up to doctors to decide who is worthy of living and who needs to be terminated? While everybody wants a healthy child to declare it “wrong” to allow a less than perfect child to be born is a horrific thought.

The doctor doesn’t make the decision. That is done by the parents, who are within their legal rights.

And then there is legislation extending the period a woman has to sue for a termination of pregnancy, including for emotional injury inflicted, to 10 years. They’ll sue either way if it mean a pay day… Even if they attended the Women’s March and yelled the loudest about my body, my choice, they will ultimately blame the doctor. It’s part of the irresponsibility of that set.

Make no mistake. This disgrace of a bill allows a doctor to impose their own morality on their patient and lie about or fail to disclose severe fetal abnormalities without any legal or financial repercussions. This kind of backwards theocratic legislation has no place in our modern free society.

No it does not. The bill prevents ghetto lotteries. Filling suit simply because an infant is not born fully healthy, absent malpractice, is nothing more than using one’s child as a pawn in a lottery game. The doctor is not absolved of intentionally withholding information with this Bill. Try reading comprehension, it’s good for the soul. When one WANTS to find oppression or some ‘ism around every bend, he/she will always fins it even where none exist.

Abortion is a just a symbol of deeper underlying problems in our society. There was a time when having a baby was a crap shoot. Advancements in medical procedures gave up the secrets of a pregnancy. Now parents know so much about the baby, if healthy, or fetus if unhealthy. I don’t know what the solution is but seeking recompense from the doctor because he did not tell all to the parents does not seem right. Stuff happens and when it does, someone has to be a fault and held responsible. Oh how sad we’ve become.

Abortion is an inflammatory red herring. It doesn’t matter if you are pro-life or pro-choice. Doctors have no right to withhold information from patients, period. Saying anything else, regardless of your justification for it, is wrong. I agree “Wrongful-birth” is a pretty disgusting term. That said, a doctor has to tell his patients the whole truth, even if he/she, you, or I don’t agree with the patient’s resulting decision. If they intentionally withhold information, they should be sued and lose.

Any doctor who withholds this information should lose their license.
