CM Select Insurance Co. of Merrill, Wisconsin, has been approved to do business in Arkansas, the state insurance department reported.
CM Select is a subsidiary of Church Mutual Insurance Co. (CMIC), which specializes in insuring churches and religious institutions. CMIC was incorporated in Wisconsin in 1897 and provides property/casualty coverages to over 90,000 religious institutions in the United States. CM Select was incorporated in 2017.
Neither company is affiliated with or sponsored by any religious denomination.
Arkansas Insurance Commissioner Allen Kerr granted CM Select a Certificate of Authority to offer property/casualty (excluding workers’ compensation), and marine coverage in the state. CM Select will offer a business owners product that includes coverages and endorsements supporting commercial lines business for small to mid-sized religious institutions.
CMIC maintains an A.M.Best rating of A (Excellent) and is licensed in all 50 states.
This is the third insurer approved in 2018 to do business in Arkansas and the 68th company approved during Kerr’s tenure as commissioner. He was installed to the post in 2015.
