Texas Mutual Donates $100K to Community Foundation for Dallas Tornado Recovery

November 4, 2019

Workers’ compensation insurer, Texas Mutual Insurance Co. has donated $100,000 to Communities Foundation of Texas (CFT), the state’s largest community foundation. The donation, which will go toward CFT’s Dallas Tornado Recovery & Relief Fund, is in response to several tornadoes that moved through the Dallas area on Oct. 20.

CFT was founded over 65 years ago and works with thousands of nonprofits, making more than 3,000 grants each year to support the North Texas region. CFT has awarded more than $1.9 billion in grants since its founding in 1953.

The Insurance Council of Texas has estimated the insured damage from the Oct. 20 tornado outbreak in the Dallas area at $2 billion, making it the costliest tornado loss in Texas history.

Texas Mutual is committed to building a stronger, safer Texas through its community program, TXM for Texas. A core pillar of the program is disaster response and preparedness.

In addition to the $100,000 grant to CFT, Texas Mutual will distribute grants to policyholders in need. Texas Mutual invites its policyholders who have sustained significant damage to their business to apply for a grant of up to $10,000.
