A company with a Yukon, Oklahoma, facility has agreed to pay $395,000 in back wages under a settlement of allegations that it discriminated against Black, Asian, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander job applicants, the U.S. Labor Department reported.
Under the deal, Conduent Inc. will pay the settlement to 1,624 applicants, although they deny any violations.
“Together, the U.S. Department of Labor and Conduent will ensure the company will take measures to comply with federal hiring and equal employment opportunity laws,” said Melissa Speer, Dallas regional director of the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs. “Fair and equal consideration should be given to all applicants regardless of their race or ethnicity.”
The company, which formerly operated as Xerox Commercial Solutions, was accused of job bias from March 2013 through March 2015.
In a statement, Conduent said it worked with the Labor Department to resolve the matter and noted the allegations occurred under previous ownership.
