The CPCU Society, an association for more than 28,000 CPCU-credentialed insurance industry professionals, will feature several leadership development opportunities for its members during the 58th Annual Meeting and Seminars, Oct. 19-22, in Orlando, Fla., at the Dolphin and Swan Hotels.

This year’s program offers 45 technical education, career development, and career management seminars, focusing on two tracks: Property and Casualty and Leadership and Career Development. The meeting theme is “Lead and Succeed,” and CPCUs will be able to apply leadership concepts learned at the Annual Meeting to their professional careers and CPCU Society activities.

Annual Meeting attendees interested in developing their leadership skills can take advantage of the many leadership-specific seminars, speakers, and workshops available to them during their stay in Orlando.

The 2002 Annual Meeting will kick off with a pre-Annual Meeting National Leadership Institute (NLI) Certificate Program, Oct. 17-18. The NLI is a two-day leadership event that helps business professionals expand their leadership skills and work toward the NLI Certificate of Completion. This pre-meeting event will teach effective communication, resilience to change, facilitative leadership, financial insight, and project management. Aspiring leaders and seasoned executives can learn new skills and become more valuable to their organization by participating in this certificate program.

A presentation on the secrets behind the leadership success of Walt Disney World titled “The Disney Approach to Leadership Excellence,” hosted by the Disney Institute, will take place during a general session for all attendees on Sunday, Oct. 20. This presentation will explore the history and legacy behind Walt Disney World leadership, the role vision plays in inspiring people to action, leadership strategies that inspire involvement and action, and values-based leadership.

The Annual Meeting and Seminars features a Leadership and Career Development track with a variety of practical classes for CPCUs looking to develop their leadership skills. Seminar offerings include: Defining Your Leadership Style, Breaking Into Senior Management, Practical Leadership, and more.
