N.C.’s First Bancorp Acquires Montgomery County Agency

First Bancorp, the North Carolina-based parent company of First Bank and First Bank Insurance Services Inc., announced it has acquired Uwharrie Insurance Group Inc., a property and casualty insurance agency located in Troy. With eight employees, Uwharrie Insurance Group serves approximately 5,000 customers in Montgomery and neighboring counties.

Jeff Morris, president of Uwharrie Insurance Group, remains an integral part of the business as an employee of First Bank Insurance Services. Morris and his staff will continue working out of their present location in the Montgomery Square Shopping Center on Highway 24/27 in Troy.

Uwharrie’s customers should continue to contact the same people they always have with any questions or needs regarding their insurance. Customers will be mailed a letter in the coming weeks introducing First Bank Insurance Services.

First Bancorp is a bank holding company located in Troy, N. C. Its principal activity is the ownership and operation of First Bank, a state- chartered bank that operates 48 branch offices, with 47 branches operating in a sixteen county market area in the central piedmont region of North Carolina, and one branch in Wytheville, Va., where First Bank does business as First Bank of Virginia.
