Young Agent, Company of the Year Announced in N.C.

The Independent Insurance Agents of North Carolina (IIANC) announced that Ernest Jeffrey Thomas was named IIANC’s Young Agent of the Year. In addition, North Carolina’s Young Agents presented the award for Company of the Year to Travelers Insurance Co. The awards were presented at the IIANC’s Annual Young Agent’s Conference, held June 15-17, 2003, in Atlantic Beach, N.C.

Selected annually, the Young Agent of the Year award recognizes the North Carolina agent who has demonstrated commitment and performance for his/her agency, association, industry, community and family. Thomas has been extremely active in the state association. He has served on the Political Action Committee, the Eastern Agents Committee and the Young Agents committee within IIANC.

Thomas has attended numerous young agents’ conferences, the young agent’s sales boot camp, the IIABA national legislative conference and State Day on the Hill. He is a contributor to the NC Small Business PAC and InsurPAC, and has worked tirelessly to make young agents understand the importance of supporting industry PAC’s. He devotes much of his time to improving the insurance industry in North Carolina.

Thomas is a vice president with Evans and Associates in Goldsboro.

The Company of the Year award is presented to the company that has demonstrated support for association activities and commitment to the independent agency system.

Companies were judged on market availability, competitiveness in pricing, underwriting personnel, product delivery, claim settlement, marketing, product development, accounting contracts, agency contracts and overall agency/company relations.

Representing Travelers Insurance at the conference were: Jeffrey Huff and Geoff Amidon.
