Two Jasper, Alabama residents died in a house fire Monday night.
Walker County 911 received a call reporting the fire at 11:38 p.m. at which time Jasper Fire Department was dispatched to the scene.
Guynell Kennedy Bray, age 77, and her granddaughter, Lisa Nell Bray, 26, were reportedly unable to escape and were found inside the burning residence, located at 2504 13th Avenue SE, by firefighters.
Jasper Fire Department reported answering previous fire calls to this house, which was a one story wood frame structure. Fire department officials also said there were reportedly no smoke detectors in the house when they responded to previous calls.
At the present time the fire and deaths remain under investigation by the Jasper Fire and Police Departments and the Alabama State Fire Marshals Office. No amount of damages has been reported.
