The State of Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) has selected CHOICE Medical Management Services, LLC to provide Expert Medical Advisor (EMA) services for workers’ compensation.
An EMA is requested by a judge of compensation claims through AHCA to provide expert medical consultation, opinions, and testimony. Expert medical opinion is used to resolve disputes when there are conflicting medical opinions or utilization review issues.
To qualify as an EMA, a physician must be certified by AHCA, which
requires specialized training or experience under Florida’s workers’
comp system. The physician must also be board-certified or
board-eligible. CHOICE’s state-wide network of highly qualified,
workers’ comp-certified EMA physicians met and in most cases
exceeded the requirements AHCA had set forth for every specialty.
