June 15, 2004

Marine Industries of South Florida (MIASF) awarded Ian Greenway, president and CEO of LIG Marine Managers, a 2004 Award of Excellence for his service to the marine industry on the Longshore & Harbor Workers Compensation Act reform and efforts to pass the Recreational Marine Employment Act.

Greenway was reportedly instrumental in the recent passage of regulations that will effectively lower Longshore rates for many marine businesses in Florida by 42 percent.

The award was presented to Ian at the MIASF Annual Awards Gala “Fire & Ice” held Saturday, June 5, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida by Kristina Hebert, vice president of MIASF. Four other industry leaders also received awards from MIASF.

Frank Herhold, MIASF executive director, said “These industry leaders have each made significant contributions to our industry in the past year and have set valuable examples for other industry constituents. It is for their contributions that we recognize these leaders with the 2004 Awards of Excellence”.

The MIASF is a not-for-profit trade organization created to promote and protect the sound growth of the marine industry in South Florida for the benefit and education of its members, the community and environment. The Association has 800 members in Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties and is the owner of the Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show as well as the founder of the Annual Waterway Cleanup.
