Important insurance issues will be addressed by prominent members of the Florida Legislature and Tom Gallagher, Chief Financial Officer and Secretary of the Department of Financial Services during the Professional Insurance Agents of Florida’s Feb. 15 annual Legislative Day 2005 in Tallahassee.
Regulatory issues to be considered during the spring session of the Florida Legislature and how it might impact insurance agents and the way they do business will be discussed by Jim King, (R-Jacksonville) past president of the Florida Senate; Rep. Frank Farkas (R-St. Pete), chair of the Commerce Committee; and Rep. Dean Cannon (R-Winter Park), a member of the House Insurance Committee.
King, will talk about upcoming legislative issues that can impact the industry and the way it does business. Rep. Farkas and Rep. Cannon will provide information regarding the upcoming legislative session.
“Here’s a chance for PIA members to participate in the political process and visit with legislators to underscore the importance of the insurance community in Florida,” Sergio Gonzalez, PIA president said. “Attendees will meet with many of Florida’s insurance policymakers and stand united as an industry group.”
Legislative Day kicks off at 11:30 a.m. with lunch and an afternoon during which influential speakers will give presentations and answer questions. The final deadline to register for this event is Feb. 10, registration forms are available at www.piafl.org.
