Marc Muri has joined Utica National Insurance Group of New Hartford, N.Y. as its representative in Blythewood, S.C., according to Jim Ayres, resident vice president and manager of Utica’s Regional Office in Richmond, Va.
Ayres said Utica has been meeting with independent insurance agents in South Carolina to contract with them to sell Utica’s selection of specialized commercial insurance products.
“With a regional office in Richmond, Va. we are well-situated to serve the South Carolina market, its independent agents and their clients,” Ayres said.
Muri’s territory will initially emphasize central and upstate portions of the state.
“We sell commercial property-casualty package policies, commercial auto, and workers compensation coverages,” Ayers said. “We have very successful, specialized insurance programs for schools, religious institutions, child care centers, auto services, printers, small contractors, auto dealers, and many more. We also are very successful writing ‘general’ commercial coverage for a variety of businesses.”
Muri has more than 30 years of experience in personal and commercial lines marketing and underwriting, including a 23-year association with CIGNA as a territorial manager and business development manager along with directing the marketing of their workers compensation line for nine years. He also worked in business development for Berkshire-Hathaway as a field marketing manager for Southern Guaranty (now General Casualty) in S.C. and southern N.C.
