Chubb Targets Northeast Florida for Expansion, Agency Appointments

September 25, 2006

The Chubb Group of Insurance Companies will open an office in Maitland, Florida, to target prospective commercial and personal insurance customers in northeast Florida.

The area Chubb plans to target includes Flagler and St. Johns, which the insurer says are two of the fastest growing counties in the nation, as well as Orange, Seminole, Volusia, Duval and Nassau counties. By 2010, the state is expected to surpass New York as the third most populous state in the nation, and Florida has experienced the greatest increase in new housing units from 2000 to 2005, according to the U.S. Census.

In addition, Florida Tax Watch reports that home prices have significantly outpaced the national average and have increased by a larger percentage for each of the last five years.

“The region’s population and wealth are growing at a faster pace than the rest of Florida and the nation as a whole,” said Greg Fontana, who has been appointed Chubb’s northeast Florida production office leader.
Fontana said Chubb expects to appoint additional agencies in these counties.

The office, which is expected to open in early November, will be located at 875 Concourse Parkway South in Maitland. Chubb also operates a branch in Tampa as well as an office in Sunrise.
