A fast-moving fire destroyed the sanctuary of a Spartanburg County, S.C. church, bringing down its steeple.
The employees and construction crew inside escaped without injury when the Abner Creek Baptist Church caught fire Wednesday morning.
Church members say the buildings that burned were 40 to 50 years old, while the church celebrated its 175th anniversary this past September.
A gymnasium adjacent to the church appeared to be spared.
Investigators haven’t determine what caused the fire.
