Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear appointed Connie Lawson to serve as a member of the Commission on Fire Protection Personnel Standards and Education to represent mayors across the state.
Lawson is currently the mayor of the Richmond, Ky. He has served as city commissioner of Richmond and as president of the Richmond Chamber of Commerce.
The appointment replaces Thomas G. Kimbro. Lawson will serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending July 16, 2008.
The Commission on Fire Protection Personnel Standards and Education is charged with strengthening, upgrading and improving the fire services for the citizens and industries within the commonwealth through standardized education, training, communication and distribution of funds.
