The essence of the opinion overruling this monumental verdict against the school is based upon the fact that there comes a point in time-and in fact-when responsibility for the acts of wild kids is no longer the school’s (i.e. a school-sponsored event), but becomes the parents’. One would have thought that the parents would have taught the children reason, moderation and sense. But I guess that that is too much like discipline.

    Hooray for the 3rd DCA!

Why did the school endorse an off campus beer party? I don’t know all the evidence other than what IJ gave us, but I think the school should thank their lucky stars and fire the superintendant of schools. Sounds like he/she is an idiot and has no business being in that position if they are allowing schools to promote beer parties in our day and age. What did they expect was going to happen? It’s like telling 4 year olds there is chocolate in other room and we’re going to send you over there alone, but don’t take any. DUH?

Respectfully, Baxtor, read the well-reasoned opinion for all of the facts. The cite is in my previous post.

I just read the opinion…that principal is a moron. I don’t think the school has any liability and i think the judgement is correct, but that principal should never work with children again. What an idiot. Found out about the party, talked to the hosts, did a SKIT ON THE AFTERNOON ANNOUNCEMENTS about the party, showed up at the party to make sure the parents were home (but it appears he didn’t actually verify they were home). F-i-r-e-d.

. . . Did a skit about busting the party!!! Drove to the home to verify a parent was there.

Did not speak to parent, but parent was ignoring the party with their shades down.
