Personal responsiblity needs to make a comeback. Insurance companies need to stop “settling” because it’s easier. I applaud this jury!!

Yeah for the jury! Let’s all thank God that the old guy wasn’t drinking a Starbucks coffee while on the ride. Imagine that lawsuit.

10 years ago, at age 70, he tore an artery to his brain and he was able to attend the trial to the end. That alone should have tipped off the jury. After he lost, he quickly suited up for a 10,000 foot tandem sky dive where he alleged that adrenaline made his heart race. Good God, what next.

OK… an 80 year old should not be on a thrill ride… waking up every morning should be a thrill enough… however, if personal injury lawyers weren’t such ambulance chasers this kind of case would never find its way out of The Twilight Zone…

Maybe it was a “no brainer” to Disney’s legal team but it took guts to go all the way on this one. Rarely do these things go to the jury.

We just need a few of these verdits and that will make people realise that lawsuits are ment as a LAST resort when damages are caused, not as a get rich quick scheme.

I rode the Tower of Terror and, as I walked away, I got approached by a Disney wish maker who took me through the ride again. It was great, but maybe I should sue Disney under the “too much fun” reason.

I think it’s a stretch to compare this to a hot coffee lawsuit. If I was on a thrill ride and truly thought the ride caused me to have a stroke, I would probably sue as well. I wonder where this case fell apart . . . was it in establishing causality (the stroke occurred weeks after the ride) or was some other criterion for negligence not met?

    Let me get this straight:
    1) An age 80 altakoker takes a thrill ride on a genuinely tough-for-any-age Disney ride.
    2) This ride allegedly rips an artery causing him, etc..etc..
    3)..and 4) to eternity. !
This meshugana nebish shoud not be on such a ride.
He should he schutupping Sadie Abramowitz down the hall in the Home..-not doing fakokta stuff at Disney.
    Oy vey gevalt !

I am half his age and I rode this ride a few months ago, I did not have a stroke but anal seepage seems to be a problem for me after the friggin 13 story drop in a darm elevator. But I knew going thru the line that I might have to pucker up after riding it. The warnings are everywhere.

Screw this jackass. He was 68 when this happened and had no business on a thrill ride. Warnings are clearly posted. In addition to the defense verdict, they should have given him a good kick in his old a ss for being an idiot. Disney should have filed a counter-suit for it’s defense costs and given him a free ticket for another ride.

If you “truly thought the ride caused a stroke” you should not have been dumb enough to be on the ride in the first place. Overweight or obese, smoker, past medical problems, STUPID, etc, etc…people who shouldn’t subject themselves to that kind of stress know that but are too friggin stupid to pass on a thrill ride. And then of course they want to sue somebody to project the blame from themselves to others. Lawyers are soooooo “genuinely” sympathetic to these fools and only exacerbate the national epidemic of lawsuits. You, pal, are part of the problem

This article is 6 sentences long. One of us is passing judgement without knowing any of the facts, and one of us is not. I am not a sympathetic person and if I ever end up on the jury of a case like this, the plaintiffs attorneys better bring a suitcase full of evidence and a bulletproof legal argument. But at least I am open minded and am willing to evaluate each case based on the facts, in order to protect our system of justice from people like YOU.

I don’t think the ride can cause a stroke. The thrill of the ride can cause one’s heart to beat faster and blood to flow faster. Isn’t a stroke caused by a vessel getting clogged up by some lose plaque that breaks off the vessel wall? Plaque build up is the result of too much bad cholesterol in the system over time. How did Disney contribute to the stroke? The next viagra pill may have sent him over the edge.
