The West Virginia Supreme Court says the newly created business court division will be headquartered in Martinsburg.
Officials said the headquarters for the new system for business-related lawsuits will be located at the Berkeley County Judicial Center.
The grand opening will be announced in a public ceremony on Oct. 10, the day the new division begins operation.
Officials have said the business court will focus on complex issues that arise in commercial litigation. It also will relieve circuit court judges from handling novel or complex issues that they may not be trained to handle. The business court would handle cases such as contract and shareholder disputes, trade secrets and securities cases.
The court will have seven regions, each encompassing six to 11 counties.
