Just like Mississippi, as the former Governor of North Carolina lamented….

This is really truly sad, because, as the article points out: About 170,000 long-term unemployed workers in North Carolina will lose out on extra federal funds under the new law, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.

Way to push more people into poverty, despair, homelessness…

Sorry, but unemployement benefits were designed to be temporary, not a permanent job.

Permanent? How is 6 months “permanent”? I sure hope you never get laid off, you will see it’s not that easy to just “find another job”. I know, I’ve been there.

Bingo, 6 months is hardly a permanent thing. My wife was “downsized” and it took her nearly 9 months to land on her feet. She applied non-stop, countless interviews. She has a Bachelor’s Degree so it’s not like she is uneducated. Had she lost her unemployment benefit, our daughter would have suffered, let alone us. Perhaps you like applauding struggling families who are making every effort to be thriving. Pro tip – not every unemployed worker is looking for an eternal handout from the government. 6 months isn’t enough time. Watch what happens with the crime rates.

It’s always a guarantee that it is a Republican that screws over the middle class. Republicans ONLY look out for the wealthy and corporations.

I was let go from a major retail company after 24yrs. I must say I did nothing wrong. I was faced with coming to work and within 15mins I was let go. I later found out that it was a plan to replace me with someone else. Since I have been gone, This manager has replaced white people with black people with everyone he lets go. I wish I had fought it! I do not want to be on unemployment, I do not want to be of anymore of a burden to the state than some of the other people that are on unemployment. I need my benefits, I worked for that company for 24yrs, I earned my unemployment benefits and I don’t think that the Governer has any concern about the small people just like Obama. I seems to me that they are not helping the people, they are sending them in a downward spiral of dispare. I have applied for more than 120jobs since I have been on unemployment and I have received to calls, both of which said I was not qualified. As a matter of a fact, I AM OVER QUALIFIED!!!!

Being unemployed is not a white or black issue. It is a people issue that was not changed by a black president but by a white governor. It seems your comments have overtones of racism. I wish people could just look at one person at a time and judge that way instead of blanketing every person together no matter who they are, it is unfair to good people. I pray you are blessed with a job before your benefits are exhausted. Have a great day!
