Let the Judge pay for all of the extra benefits. As a working taxpayer I am sick and tired of all of the ways we have created to NOT WORK. People need to take care of themselves and their own families.
Would you still feel that way if this fire-fighter was injured saving your home or wife & kids in a fire? Say what you want about the millions of leeches on the economy, but doesn’t sound like this is one of them.

DougJ has obviously never been injured on the job before. I have handled work comp claims for 15 years and even I am offended by the 104 week cut-off. If it takes longer then the injured employee should be protected. You don’t cut the protection… you make sure the adjuster’s are doing a proper job and staying on top of their files. Too many cases in Florida where adjusters don’t do their jobs correctly. And why should they??? No penalty for not doing it (in Florida). Start with that, and give the protection back to injured workers like the rest of states in America!!!

BUT MY WORLD CHANGED ONE DAY AFTER FALLING 25FT FROM A UTILITY POLE AND NEARLY GETTING KILLED. SINCE THEN, I HAVE LOST EVERYTHING I HAVE WORKED SO HARD FOR ALL MY LIFE. INCLUDING MY FAMILY, HOME, VEHICLE, AND MORE THAT I WONT GO INTO. LET ME TELL YOU, THIS SYSTEM IS A TOTAL SLANT TO DO NOTHING BUT CATER TO THE INSURANCE COMPANIES. JUST IN CASE YOU ARE TO STUPID TO KNOW, YOUR TAX MONEY DOESN’T PAY FOR TTD OR PTD. I WOULD LOVE NOTHING MORE THAN TO BE ABLE TO FIX MY PROBLEMS AND BE A WHOLE MAN AGAIN. It’s nice to have the courts address the coverage gap, but to rule it unconstitutional is simply confusing.
