PIP needs to be abolished. It has outived it’s usefulness. All it is now is a money making scheme for unscrupulous attornies and medical providers. The cost of the PIP is 3-1 to 4-1 the cost of the property damage coverage and it’s 2-1 to 3-1 the cost of BI. We need to return to a Tort system to rein in the costs and the fraud.

No, eliminating PIP and going back to tort system is not the answer. Yes, fraud is a problem, but there has to be a better solution. For example, using a fee schedule similar to worker’s compensation instead of paying 100% of charges.

I’m still waiting for my rates to go down like promised. However my PIP payment is 45.00 for six months. So to say that the cost is high,, Please give me a break. The insurance companies just want more damn money.

PIP SHOULD IS OBSOLETE WITH THE OBAMA CARE MANDATE. WHY SHOULD WE PAY FOR PIP IF WE ALL HAVE TO HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE?

Like Rober says, $45 for 6 mos of $10,0000 coverage is pretty good. The insurance companies want all BI coverage so they can delay, deny and defend claims and force injued consumers to settle their cases for a fraction of their value because they are going broke waiting for the insurance company to pay a claim. And PIP allows us to get treated so we can prove our BI claims under the current system. Sure, there is fraud in the current system and plenty of anti-fraud laws. Just enforce them. Oh, and maybe we shouldn’t believe everything the insurance companies tell us.

$45 for $10,000? NOT! You may be paying $5, thinking you get $10,000 in benefits if you are injured in an accident, but you are only entitled to $2500 unless you can prove that it was a medical emergency condition (EMC). By being poorly defined in the law, the insurance companies are considering an EMC as being life threatening. The fact that you were transported to the emergency room in an ambulance for broken bones, cuts and bruises is NOT considered an EMC. Floridians we’ve been snookered. Our government which is supposed to protect the citizens of the state is more committed to serving the insurance companies.BOHICA
