Wow, how do those SOCIALIST Canadians afford to purchase properties in Florida for CASH… Apparently they are not “taxed to death”…

“The National Association of Realtors found that 90 percent of Canadians pay cash for a second home in Florida.”

Quite frankly, Florida NEEDS the real estate purchases to continue to spur on our Real Estate/Construction and Vacation based economy. With the Biggert Waters act looming for BIGGER Flood Insurance Premium, along with the last three years of SUBSTANTIAL Residential Property Insurance Rate INCREASES, obtaining insurance on all but NEWLY CONSTRUCTED Homes/Condos in Florida is becoming prohibitive. Let’s push all of those would be Florida Home/Condo buyers to GEORGIA… Georgia WILL welcome them with open arms and LOW INSURANCE PREMIUM, of that I am… OmniSure!

So is there a “means test” – Florida citizens shouldn’t be subsidizing wealthy Floridians either. But, if you want your real estate market to support all your lifestyle habits, you better not drive off the nonresisident buyers and owners…

Citizens needs to adjust rates to adequate levels and then this wouldn’t be an issue. Plus, not all of these out of state owners are wealthy. I am sure there are a large number that have mobile homes or cheap condos.

What all these protestors aren’t taking into account is one simple fact: If a home in Fl. is not a primary residence, the real estate taxes are 200%+ higher than what a primary residence pays.

    So, who’s subsidizing who?
