I remember playing with a Joe Camel stuffed animal and a Camel miniature billiards table when I was a kid. I grew up, went to school, and was showered nightly with free gifts from the cigarette companiess– free copper and brass zippo lighters, free packs of cigarettes, free cans of dip, free free free.

How will the cigarette companies get your kids addicted? Something to think about.

I really believe the tobacco companies should be held accountable for selling a deadly product that has killed (probably) millions of people thru the years.
but I have a real problem with smokers profiting from being stupid enough to ingest a deadly product.
the taxpayers have to pick up a good share of the cost of smokers poor decisions – – – -?

If we were REALLY serious about the health hazards of our citizens from the use of tobacco prodcts, then we just need to grow a set and ban the stuff or take the approach we are increasingly doing with drugs like marijauna and leagalize it and let the buyer beware.
Right now all the litigation is doing is enriching lawyers through the suits and governments through their increasingly high tax levies on all tobacco products.
The average claimant has already gotten screwed and really doesn’t benefit from a cash award decades after he or she began smoking-thedamage is done and money-even a lot of it won’t reverse the damage that was done to that person or their family.

Many of us were raised in households where EVERYONE smoked… that WWII generation. Most of us smoked too.. until we finally understood the serious consequences of inhaling poison.. Still, stopping smoking was probably one of the hardest things I ever did.. If you have never smoked I don’t think you can imagine the addictive quality. But, once the chain is broken it is easier to raise children who do not smoke. No profiting if you are complicit.
