The NORCAL Group’s Medicus Insurance Co. is now offering medical professional liability insurance coverage to physicians and surgeons in South Carolina.
Ron Rumin, senior vice president of business development, said the products include Advantage Gold, a no-additional-cost policy endorsement that provides coverage for certain information technology risks in doctors’ practices.
Medicus is a wholly owned subsidiary of NORCAL Mutual.
The NORCAL Group is made up of NORCAL Mutual Insurance Co., Medicus Insurance Co. and PMSLIC Insurance Co. Together they provide medical professional liability insurance protection to more than 28,000 physicians, healthcare extenders, medical groups, hospitals, community clinics and allied healthcare facilities in the nation, according to the company. The group is rated “A” (Excellent) by A.M. Best.
NORCAL Mutual is based in San Francisco and operates in California, Alaska, Rhode Island and Texas. PMSLIC is based in Mechanicsburg, Penn., and operates in Pennsylvania and Delaware. Medicus is based in Austin, Tex. and is licensed to sell medical professional liability insurance in 37 states.
