Authorities said two condominiums units and a car have been set on fire in suspicious blazes in Carolina Beach.
New Hanover County District Attorney Ben David told local media outlets that crews are still checking to make sure no one was killed in the fires, which were set between 2:30 a.m. and 4:45 a.m. Saturday.
David said police have a suspect in custody, but no charges have been filed.
Authorities said one fire destroyed one 12-unit beachfront condominium. A second blaze about a half-mile away heavily damaged a second 12-unit building. The car was burned about two miles south of the condos.
Officials said a firefighter and several people in the condominiums were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
