Federal Government Sues Florida Ambulance Service over $28M in False Claims

The federal government is suing a Jacksonville ambulance service over alleged false billing and other schemes.

The Florida Times-Union reports that the company is accused of submitting false claims to federally subsidized health-care programs.

The government alleges a 10-year kickback scheme by the company involving false records and unnecessary ambulance transports.

The government says more than $28 million in claims were submitted and most were not legitimate.

The lawsuit is the latest action against a number of Jacksonville ambulance companies and health-care providers involving fraudulent claims.
