Data Call Deadline Approaching for Property Insurers in Georgia

October 21, 2015

Personal and commercial property insurers in the State of Georgia have until Oct. 30 to respond to a Data Call from the Georgia Insurance Department.

The bulletin for the data call, issued in August, states the information is necessary in order for the department to analyze property concentration, insured exposure, market share and potential impact in case of an unlikely weather event.

According to the instruction sheet, the department is seeking to ensure that adequate coverage options are provided for Georgia properties in areas susceptible to hurricane and wind risk.

Insurers with active policies in the state as of May 30, 2015 for fire, allied lines, farmowners multiple peril, homeowners multiple peril, and commercial multiple peril lines of business are asked to compile policy records and submit their information using the file layout provided on the Officer of the Commissioner of Insurance’s website.

Additional information, including the data call instruction sheet with descriptions of the data fields, are also available on the website.
