“Republican Gov. Pat McCrory’s office issued a statement saying that it’s disappointing the companies are siding with the Obama administration.”

No Governor, it’s disappointing you are siding with discrimination. And, your actions are directly impacting Fortune 100 companies. I bet you like to say you are pro-business, though, huh? I refuse to go to your state again until this law is reversed. Which is a shame, I love your beaches, seafood restaurants, and golf courses. Keep inflicting that pain upon your people because you don’t like something you find “icky”.

These corporate CEO’s are not doing this out of any conviction. Rather, they want some bragging rights at toney wine and cheese parties and they don’t want the “controversy” of having emotional, off the edge protestors making a scene outside their offices. I would like to see hard documented proof that North Carolina’s policy affects recruitment – numbers, instances, etc. It’s all publicity-garnering hot air.

Why is the government discriminating against me? I identify as elderly, so I want to be able to collect my social security now and not pay an early withdrawal penalty when I use my 401k.

Why is the government discriminating against me? I identify as a poor person, so I don’t think I should pay any taxes. I also want them to pay for my food, housing and healthcare, but they won’t.

Why is the government discriminating against me? I identify as the democratic nominee, but they won’t give me a secret service detail or let me break the law and get away with it.

Ever read Orwell’s 1984? “All are equal,” but some are more equal than others.

Your argument is basically “All are equal, but non-trans people are more equal.”

As suuuuch a big fan of Orwell I’m sure you support his line from Why I Write:

“Every line of serious work that I have written since 1936 has been written, directly or indirectly, against totalitarianism and for democratic socialism, as I understand it.”

So do you support socialism, or do you cherry pick lines and works to use out of context, exactly contrary to their actual meaning?

Not true. If LGBT people were treated just like everyone else, a simple city ordinance against discrimination would not have prompted the emergency creation and passing of a law banning someone from using the bathroom.

Yes, now the private companies get strong-armed into joining the poodle fight that is the LBGTZ micro-minority movement. Let’s step on the rights of the majority to accommodate the incredibly odd thinking of just a pitiful few. That’s the spirit. Let the tail wag the dog.
Frankly, I don’t care if men want to dress as women or vice versa, but don’t try to shove their warped world-view down my throat or force it on my children. I can’t imagine why 1,000,000 souls should be expected to change in order to accommodate 1. The whole P/C thing is totally out of control.
Yes, I support the people of NC and their brave decision.

Tinfoil hat on a little tight this morning?

I don’t need any special protections, thanks. But then, I’m a white upper-middle class heterosexual male.

It’s the people that aren’t treated as “fairly” as me that need a little protection here and there. It’s unfortunate that fairness has to be legislated for women, other races, etc…

Imagine a country that offers a preferred tax status to “married” people, and then individual states restrict the right to marry to heterosexuals. Liberty and justice for all?

Are you really upper-middle class heterosexual male, or are you a woman who identifies as that, so therefore you are ? Either way is ok with me.
Imagine a country that thought the idea of ‘marriage’ was for two people to join together, have a family and all that sort of thing. Preposterous isn’t it.
For what it’s worth, I’m perfectly fine with gay marriage and every other ’cause’ of yours (I think….), but I also think the people of NC have the right to say, we aren’t willing to provide special privileges to micro-minority groups, just because the president says so. States and the people that comprise their citizenry should have the right to live their lives without having to make special considerations for a few. Treat ‘the few’ fairly, absolutely, but really special, hell no.
I hope you have a nice weekend.

Not at all. Nice attempt at a straw man, though. I guess you didn’t understand the part about the inequity of offering a preferred tax status to “married” people and then having individual states restrict the right to marry to heterosexuals.

So you want a person born male, who looks and dresses female standing next to you at the urinal all obvious, rather than sitting in the ladies room stall where most people wouldn’t even notice? And people born female, but now look male walking into the ladies room? Because that’s what NC wants. Personally I would be more uncomfortable peeing next to someone in a dress than than someone with a beard just because it says “female” on their birth certificate. (I’m not discounting how transgenders feel or even addressing their gender, I’m just looking at the logic…)

I don’t want a ‘man’ in the privacy of the women’s rest room with my daughter under any circumstances.
Trust me, some pervert is going to use that inane excuse for being in the women’s bathroom whilst filming or worse.

Well, it sure didn’t take long for this to come to pass. Perv Pass.

On Thursday, a transgender woman was arrested and charged with taking pictures of an 18-year-old woman changing clothes in a fitting room at a Target store in Idaho.

The incident has renewed outrage among opponents of Target’s new policy allowing customers to use the restroom or fitting room that matches their gender identity.

The policy’s critics had previously warned that it posed a “danger to wives and daughters” and is “exactly how sexual predators get access to their victims.”

So as long as it’s not at the hands of someone the child knows, it’s ok with you ? The post you responded to was about a news report of a pedophile using Target’s gender neutral bathroom/dressing room policy to gain access to young girls. It has been a concern for many people that this might happen, and it did.
If you are interested in helping keep children safe, shouldn’t it be from strangers too ? I have no doubt that most LBGT persons are not child molesters, but there will be some and gender neutral bathrooms do help facilitate that. Sad for those who aren’t.

The actions of one individual cannot, and should not, be attributed to a larger group of similar persons. That’s generally regarded as “prejudice”. You can look it up.
