North Carolina courts have launched an online program to dismiss traffic tickets.
The News & Observer of Raleigh reports that director of the state Administrative Office of the Courts Marion Warren announced the rollout of the Electronic Compliance and Dismissal program.
The program will allow people to request dismissal of certain kinds of traffic tickets online including expired registrations, driving without a license, failing to have a license in the car or using an expired license.
Officials will also be able to use the program to review the cases and approve or deny them.
Warren calls the program a more efficient and convenient alternative to waiting in line at a courthouse.
The program was developed over eight months with over $500,000 in state money.
