And the insurance companies have said to please hurry the decision as they would like to implement the increase tomorrow!

Sounds a lot like Obamacare increases to me. There just isn’t enough in the till to do this kind of increase.

How long would you like the carriers to wait? They filed these rates over 2 years ago! I can understand that no one wants to pay the increase, but if carriers can’t make a reasonable return, they will just pull out and leave NC like they did in FL 15 years ago.

Matthew could B/R several of those little companies that sprung up in FL if it hits the entire east coast hard…just watch.

What would Matthew do to “Lemonade”, the underfunded start up?

It’d be helpful to reveal the name and affiliation of the NC State Ins commissioner so we could remember when we go to the voting booth in the near future.

Mr. Goodwin is a Democrat, and he’s up for re-election this fall. No way he wants increases of any kind this year. Politics at its finest.

This has been widely published in coastal counties where all the politicians have 2nd homes and were many others have places too. So he’s getting lots of free exposure on this all to help is chances in the polls.

He’s is a win/win situation here – he denied the increase and if he gets over-ruled he says he stood up to big-bad insurance companies. If the NCSC rules the increase can’t go forward, he wins there too saying look what I did.

He’s not stupid. He’s a career politician with aspirations for higher offices, and this is one rung in the ladder to help get there.

Hilliary Clinton doesn’t seem to have any trouble saying she wants to increase taxes $1.3 Trillion if elected.

Mr. Goodwin is looking out for us homeowners who have been gouged by Insurance Companies to help pick up the tab for those who have beach properties to keep their premiums lower. Well they don’t let me use their beach property I should NOT have to help them with their insurance premiums!

Guess who recently ordered a rate DECREASE for the coast?

Beach rates are being cut – and other parts being raised – because of Mr. Goodwin.

Linda, did you happen to notice all the damage to North Carolina beach property from Matthew? Rubble everywhere right on the beach. Rebuild right there so it can be destroyed again in about 10 years.

Having been a customer of State Farm Insurance for 40+ years and filed one small claim during that time I was mad as hell when I got my renewal 3 yrs ago with a BIG increase and a letter telling me I had to sign to let them increase my premium by 10% or they would drop me. Well they didn’t have to drop me I dropped them and have since learned all “big” Insurance companies in NC followed suit! The reason behind the increase was to cover losses for beach property! Well I don’t own beach property and I resent those that do expecting the rest of us to help cover Insurance company losses so their premiums will be affordable!

Welcome to the new world Linda. Hopefully, you are with an Independent Agent now who has more choices to offer if the company goes up on rates. Companies don’t individually rate anymore and instead rate by territory and whole states have rate passed on to loss free customers as well as the ones having claims. It is in their Predictive Modeling scenario done by Geeks using statistics. You are a number in a computer to a company. They figure people will just keep accepting increases and they will come out ahead even if a percent leaves. I really don’t understand the loyalty of State Farm policyholders. They have to do something pretty bad to have a customer leave. Good for you.

Linda, Deplorables/Agent does not speak for the entire insurance industry.

I vehemently disagree that carriers don’t individually rate (we do), that you are just a number in a computer system (we pride ourselves and market our company on our superior customer service & our Net Promoter Score) nor do I agree with the negativity he has towards statistics.

His is just one voice in the ocean of insurance professionals. He does not speak for our entire industry.

Linda, Rosenblatt does not speak for the entire insurance industry. He is just with one carrier and Independent Agents represent all the leaders in the insurance business. Experience with carriers has shown me how they operate, how they use Predictive Modeling and put customers in their little boxes rather than using common sense underwriting. Don’t let him fool you. By the way, State Farm is the 800# Gorilla and they expect all the other carriers to follow them down the merry road to constant rate increases. Their track record in recent years is not enviable.

            1) I never claimed to speak for everyone, nor did I insult entire groups of people in my post

            2) I am not an Independent Agent and never intended to represent all the leaders in the business

            3) I am not here to fool anyone.

Agent said every single carrier across the country does not individually rate and every carrier treats their clients as a number.

The sole point of my post was to explain his post is an inaccurate way to describe our entire industry as the carrier I work for definitely does not conduct business the way he claims “every carrier” does.

Agent, is it true you were banned from this site and that’s why you changed your name to Deplorables? That was intimated on a different forum and I’m curious if it’s valid. If it isn’t true, why did you change your name?
