“Georgia Man Accused of Staging Car Theft in North Carolina”

“A Georgia man was arrested and charged with insurance fraud for allegedly staging a car theft in North Carolina…”

“North Carolina Department of Insurance criminal investigators accuse Keeton of claiming his motorcycle was stolen in March 2015…”

Car, motorcycle, whatever. I guess all those wheeled vehicles can be confusing.

To be fair, the headline of the NCDOI press release did include “car” but come on, IJ. You’re the news media.

The last time I checked, motorcycles are not cars, have different rating than cars for insurance. I wonder if this guy migrated from Florida. Sounds a lot like a Florida story we see all the time.

I wonder why this was a news article. Hunch – he owed money on the bike and the bank called someone at DOI.

Motorcycles are stolen everyday and that doesn’t get in the news. But, don’t steal from a bank…

re: “I wonder why this was a news article”.

Because it’s regarding a fraudulent insurance claim. The press release was issued by the North Carolina Department of Insurance.
