Well, good luck! A lot of folks do the handheld thing. This will give the police another reason to pull over somebody whose looks they don’t like. That’s what they’ll do. Now, what about CB radios? Is that mic a handheld device? I detest those who fiddle with phones whilst driving, but this law may do little to solve that problem. Distracted driving is a psychological and moral problem and laws have little affect on those human elements.
The punishment should be seizure of the phone. It, and the call records too, are evidence.

Well, which is it? Are you against it because the law “will give the police another reason to pull over somebody” or an advocate of police “seizure of the phone”. Or are you just generally pissed-off at the world.

Georgia cell addicts beware. It is going to cost you a sizable fine and 3 points on your driving record which undoubtedly will make your premiums much, much higher. Enjoy your cell. You can scream all you want at your agent and it will do no good.

Does Texas have a similar law on the books?

One article I read said the fine is $50 for first time offenders. I would like to know the fine.
