Firefighters rescued five construction workers who fell during a floor collapse at a work site near the University of Alabama campus Thursday.
The workers were on the ground floor level at a site near Tutwiler Hall when the collapse occurred around 9 a.m., Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue Service spokeswoman Holly Whigham told the The Tuscaloosa News. The floor section collapsed into the three-story basement area, she said, before the workers fell approximately 20-25 feet.
None of the workers were trapped by falling debris, she said. Firefighters entered the collapse area and pulled them to safety before transporting them to DCH Regional Medical Center, Whigham said.
No one was seriously injured, and all were listed in stable condition Thursday afternoon
