“Investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fire.”

I might start with coronavirus shutdown as the cause. “Hey Bob, good thing we didn’t
need to rent any of those burning cars this week, right?”

There is a huge excess of rental cars in SWFL at this time of year and rental car companies start shipping cars out of SWFL beginning in April as demand falls sharply due to the exit of snowbirds & tourists. In fact, rental car rates are less than $10 per day during this time of year if you’re renting a car one-way and not bringing it back. Someone thought is was a good idea to park the cars in a grassy field during the driest time of the year.

Yes. Parking a “hot” car on dry and matted grass is catalyst for disaster.

It’s a good reminder that even with the economy in large part in suspended animation, there are still assets at risk and still the need for we insurance broker/agents to serve our clients and pursue our prospects. I wonder if this rental agency had DOL coverage. I wonder if they had ITV? I wonder if the current broker did the right job. After such a large loss this account may be looking for a new broker. Opportunities abound!

Anyone know who the broker is? Trying to contact them about removal of the cars.
