Universal Property Insurance Expands into Tennessee

The wholly-owned subsidiary of Universal Insurance Holdings, Inc.’s Universal Property & Casualty Insurance Co. (Universal Property), has received a certificate of authority in Tennessee, approving Universal Property as a licensed insurance entity in Tennessee.

According to Universal Insurance Holdings, Inc. CEO Stephen J. Donaghy, the expansion marks the Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based company’s 19th licensed state where it does business.

Universal Property & Casualty Insurance Company began in Florida in 1997 and currently provides coverage across 18 states. Its offerings include insurance for homeowners, renters, condos and landlords through its network of independent agents and a direct-to-consumer online platform.

Universal Insurance Holdings (UVE) is a holding company offering property and casualty insurance and value-added insurance services. It develops, markets, and writes insurance products for consumers predominantly in the personal residential homeowners lines of business and perform substantially all other insurance-related services for our primary insurance entities, including risk management, claims management and distribution.
