    When someone knocks on your door and says they can get you a new roof for free paid for by your insurance company and you sign up, you are a moron if you think that is true

      Well I agree it’s a huge problem, but not sure they can be called a “moron” if they end up with a new roof. And that’s what’s happening.

      I think the proper term for such a person is not “moron” but either “sucker” or “mark.”

      If insureds would just follow the most basic advice given every day. Make sure you have a licensed contractor. Easily checked online. And check recommendations with either something like Angie’s list or your neighbors.
