Openly, a homeowners’ insurance platform, announced it has expanded into Alabama, its eighth new state in 2021.
Openly, which lets website users choose an agent, get a quote or file a claim, is now in 15 states, the company said in a news release.
Founded by industry veterans Ty Harris and Matt Wielbut, the Boston-headquartered company uses technology and data to provide homeowners policies. Alabama is ripe for the company’s expansion, it said: Almost 70% of homes in the state are owner-occupied and the state is susceptible to perils such as hurricanes, tornadoes and flooding.
