Big I of Kentucky, the association of independent insurance agents in the state, has elected Kevin Desmond as chairman.
Desmond, who is president of Desmond Insurance in Bellevue, has been active on the Big I board and committees since 2016, according to a news release. The Desmond name is well known in Kentucky insurance circles. Desmond has two brothers, Michael Desmond and Dennis Desmond, both former Big I Kentucky past presidents, and a niece, Shannon Desmond Walz, a former Big I Kentucky emerging leader chair.
Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance, also known as BHSI, has promoted Atlanta-based Angela Meyer to be head of life sciences for North America.
Meyer, previously head of life sciences for the Southeastern U.S., has been with Berkshire since 2014, the company said. She will lead efforts to expand the specialty insurer’s business in the life sciences market, which includes coverage for medical technology, pharmaceutical firms, clinical trials firms and other health companies.
BHSI provides products liability, professional services liability and clinical trials liability coverage for life sciences companies, including multinational programs, the company said in a news release.
