The Citizens staff recommending anything less than a Max. Annual increase is great comedic material. Thanks for the laugh. I wonder if the person who hired them is laughing too. I hope so (for the staff’s sake).
Does anyone remember the name of that glacier in Antarctica that’s been in the news lately, or remember the last time it rained on the summit of Greenland???
Whatever it is, it won’t be enough. Things are dire here in FL and the market of last resort has to start acting like it. They underwrite and disqualify people who desperately need insurance and under price their policies that attract good risks from private markets. A very bad formula.
Not sure what your point is. It should be no surprise that a rate increase is needed; Florida bar and construction have been profiting as if insurance was a pot of gold. I doubt Citizens was ever intended to increase its share of the market but as plaintiff’s attorneys and construction contractors abuse AOB, this has been the result all the while the voluntary market continues to shrink, leaving only Citizens to hold the bag. if Citizens is supposed to survive without public assistance, then someone needs to pony up the cash to pay claims. Simple.
