Owens Promotes Johnson
Owens Insurance Agency, based in Greer, South Carolina, has promoted Sandra Johnson to be director of operations.
Johnson, who joined the agency a decade ago, has served as the agency’s point of contact for carriers. She will now oversee most aspects of the business, from quotes to claims to billings, the company said in a news release.
The Owens agency, founded 70 years ago, specializes in insurance for construction companies all over Upstate South Carolina. Chris Crist and Shane Lynn are co-owners.
NC DOI Elevates Three
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey announced three promotions at the Department of Insurance.
Jerry Daniels, who recently served as employee relations manager, was named director of human resources for the department. Daniels, a 26-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, began his career with the state in 2016, Causey said in a news release. He served in the Department of Health and Human Services in 2016 and 2017 and was with the Department of Commerce from 2018 to 2022.
Jason Tyson was named director of communications for the insurance department, and Barry Smith was made deputy director of communications and safety officer.
