Nice timing! Just as we approach the peak of hurricane season here in Texas, my Hail & Windstorm insurer goes insolvent? Are you (expletives omitted) kidding me? That means (1) I am currently uninsured for this year’s hurricane season, (2) I will immediately have to open a policy with another insurer immediately – if that is even possible, (3) I will have to come up with another $2300+ payment and (4) God knows if I’ll ever see a $2300+ policy refund from Weston. Funny thing is, I don’t believe Weston had the integrity to notify any of their policy holders yet. When were we supposed to find out… with the first hurricane warning for our area?

We renewed our Florida house in July at $3400 even though we tried to change to Citizens. Florida insurance industry might be the worst in the nation as rates and politics (lack of reasonable regulations) are horrific.

Now where are we on this? Complete ripoff.

The ONLY other insurer who will offer us wind insurance is Citizen’s, and the quote we got was for $18,250. I have no idea what to do.
