North Carolina authorities have charged one woman and are on the lookout for another in connection with a scheme to defraud a State Farm insurance company of more than $195,000.
India Ayesha Wilkerson, 25, of Greensboro, was charged with insurance fraud, conspiracy, forgery and attempting to obtain property by false pretenses, the North Carolina Department of Insurance said this week.
In a 2023 claim, she allegedly used or altered photographs from a 2021 homeowners insurance claim filed by Rodericka Sadia Kennedy, of Fayetteville. The alleged fraud also involved the use of forged bank statements, Commissioner Mike Causey said in the news release.
Wilkerson was arrested last week and was released on bond. An arrest warrant has been issued for Kennedy.
