Arthur J. Gallagher, the global insurance brokerage, announced it has acquired Georgia-based Sheila J. Butler & Co., an employee benefits firm.

Butler and team will remain in their office locale in Carrollton, Georgia, under the direction of Colby Paxton, head of Gallagher’s Southeast region employee benefits consulting operations, AJG said in a news release.
Butler has been in operation for some 25 years. Sheila Butler, president, acquired the agency three years ago and changed the name to her own, according to the Butler website. Blake Butler is vice president.
The publicly traded Gallagher is headquartered in Illinois and operates in 130 countries.
