Fireman’s Fund insurance Co. (FFIC) selected CompPartners, an Irvine-based workers’ comp health care organization (HCO), to provide HCO services in California. Joseph Wells, vice president of workers’ compensation for FFIC, was quoted as saying that the time for HCOs had arrived, particularly in light of a hardening insurance market. He also said that employers seemed to be more open to the concept of the HCO at the present time than they were when California first enabled HCOs as an alternative option for workers’ comp programs in the early 1990s.
Bruce Carlin, CEO and co-founder of CompPartners, was also reported to have expressed his satisfaction with the partnership, stating that the resulting product offering would enable California employers to achieve significant benefits in high quality medical care and reduced costs.
